Will Oracea Tablet Reduce Birth Control Pill Effectiveness?

I’m currently taking Alesse (my birth control pill) and have some problems with acne and my dermatologist prescribed me Oracea (Antibiotic) and now I’m concerned I’ll get pregnant since the pills could interact negatively. My husband and I only use the pill as contraception. What is your opinion?

OB and GYN Specialist 's  Response
Hi,

You can take your birth control pill and the medication your dermatologist suggested you. It's not going to affect negatively on you. And I suggest you take another non-hormonal contraceptive like condoms because taking OCP for a long time may lead to infertility.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Naira Jahangir, OB and GYN Specialist
