Will Marijuana Affect Warfarin Teva And Aspirin Treatment?

Have undergone three bypass operations to legs within seven months for claudication and was a heavy smoker. Now on warfarin treva and asprin 75ml. Will smoking marijuana on its own have any effect good or bad with present treatment? What can I do to reduce condition?

Ironically, the main change that WILL affect the warfarin is STOPPING the cigarettes. This really has to be done because they are quite a strong risk on heart disease. And when the cigarettes are stopped, the lack of chemicals and irritation will lower liver metabolism of many drugs likely including warfarin. The marijuana does not generally affect warfarin.

Some marijuana may have pesticides or other chemical and these do affect warfarin. Regardless, the level of anti-coagulation needs to be monitored at least once every 2 weeks and changes in lifestyle/drug exposures will mean more frequent testing.
