Will Is The Cause Of Yellow Wax After Ear Infection?

HI! Two Fridays ago I took my baby to the dr. and discovered he had a right ear infection. The doctor prescribed us amoxicillin and we gave it to him twice a day for a week. (It was supposed to be 10 days, but after one week, he broke out in a rash) I took him back to the dr. this past Friday and we discovered the amoxicillin wasn t working and he still had an ear infection, now along with a rash....the dr. then gave him a shot of a stronger medicine. I think it started with an r like restalin or something like that?? It has been four days and his rash is gone, but he still tugs at his ear. He doesn t really cry or fuss, but he hasn t been crying this whole time. I just looked in his ears and there is bright yellow ear wax in one of them. Do you think it is still infected?

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

This could be a yellowish discharge coming out of the ear due to an acute infection. It would be best to take a sample of the discharge and send it for culture sensitivity to treat it with the right medicines. I hope your doctor must have done that.

Regards,
Sreenivasan
