Will Ear Infection Leads To Tinnitus?

hi Sir, I am 37 year male, for last 2 months i am having high pitch ear noise in my right ear , Doctors did audio test which is normal but since then daily I have constant high pitch noise in my right ear, though intensity of sound varies , sometime it reduce then come back, sometime ear pain and fullness for short duration then pain disappear. Just 10 days back it was found that there is inflammation in right side tonsils and small white mass ( lump ) near to right tonsils ( same right ear in which I having tinitus problem) , Doctor has advised 7 day course of Phenoxymethylpencillin. is this tonsilitus / ear infection can cause tinitus ? anything i can do cure/ get rid of this ear noise .

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Tinnitus is very difficult to diagnose and to treat as there is no definite reason known why it occurs and there is no specific treatment for this.
Well, as you rightly said the infection in the right tonsil could have been transmitted into the right (same side) ear and spread then to the internal ear where cochlea is there. This is the organ that processes the airwaves into perception of sounds n the brain by means of millions of minutest hair cells.
Once these hair cells start moving on their own without any stimulus, it is perceived as tinnitus.
In some patients it is due to medicines and direct trauma to the cochlear apparatus.

The treatment of the basic cause can help.
I hope this answer gives you what you wanted to know.
