Will Diane Contraceptive Pill Treat Acne?

Hi, I am struggling with acne. It's been years that I have this and it has been depressing. I am currently taking vitamins a, e and c. Found in the web that they work well but I haven't seen any changes. I am planning to take diane contraceptive pill coz according to several sites here on the web, it works really well. Can I take Diane and still take those I'm taking right now? What should I ommit from my current vitamins so I can take Diane. I hope to get an expert advise. Thanks

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have acne on face which is because of sebaceous gland under the hair follicle , when sebum get accumulated in clogged duct of sebaceous gland along with dead skin and bacteria they produce acne. You are taking vitamins as well as contraceptives pills, I would suggest you to continue with vitamins first and then give a break and start contraceptives only for short duration. Wash your face 2-3 times a day with mild soap and warm water to prevent the accumulation of oil ,dust and bacteria on your face. Apply vitamin E oil at night. Avoid greasy creams ,use water based products. Don't pick or touch acne. Apply kojic acid cream on face. If acne still persists consult dermatologist for proper examination. Doctor may prescribe ointments containing benzyol peroxide, azelaic acid or retinoids. Sometimes doctor may also prescribe antibiotics.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
