Will Delayed Implanon Affect Fertility?

I got my Implanon in Jan 2011. It was to be removed Jan 2014. I've yet to have the money, and it's now almost 2 years past the expiration date. I just can't afford $200-$400 to remove it. Is that going to affect my fertility in the future. I understand that self removal is frowned upon, but I'm desperate.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, i do care for your concern.
The drug life of implanon is about three years, and hence after that even implanon in place have no use.
If the implanon left for longer time may get buried into deeper tissue and will cause difficult removal, and will eventually cause more harm than good.
presently in case of inflammation using antibiotics and pain killers would help.
However removal of device at the earliest is highly recommended.
Hope I have answered your question. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
Thank you.
