Will Delay In Taking Birth Control Pill Affect Its Protection?

i am on microgynon 30 combined pill and took some of my pills late (under 6 hours late) this month, will i still be fully protected during my pill free week as my boyfriend and i had sex, mostly with a condom, but for a small part of it he did not use a condom but also did not ejaculate inside of me. am i protected?

Hi,

Combined oral contraceptive pills are having high protection rate if used according to the schedule. As you have taken the pill within 6 hours of the expected period you can expect full protection according to the manufacturers. Actually, if you miss any pill and will take the pill within 24 hours, you can expect full protection.

Also, as you had protective intercourse, the possibility of pregnancy is less. Anyhow, if you want to be sure, if you miss your expected date of periods, please go for a blood test for pregnancy. If the blood test shows serum beta HCG levels of less than 5 mIU / ml, it rules out the possibility of pregnancy.
