Will Chronic Or Acute Pancreatitis Show Up In Medical Tests?

I think I have pancreatitis. It flared up suddenly about a week to ten days ago. I thought it was the flu. It gets better if I don t eat; then gets worse if I do eat. I have had this before...and just get sent home form the Emergency Room. If it is Chronic Pancreatitis, will it show up on any medical tests? Or only if it is acute pancreatitis? I don t have a ride to the ER; should I look for one, or call an ambulance. I also have chills, weakness, and now am getting spaced out, e.g unable to concentrate.

Hi,

Pancreatitis is not easy to diagnose even for a doctor, you must be having some symptoms but that does not mean pancreatitis, abdomen symptoms may be due to numbers of conditions and most common is dyspepsia, hyperacidity and pancreatitis comes very late.

Discuss the symptoms with a gastroenterologist, no need to be apprehensive or over conscious. There are certain tests that could indicate pancreatitis, like CT imaging, MRI, ERCP you can discuss with the doctor for them.
