Will Chemotherapy Help With Stage 4 Lung Cancer Metastasis?

My husband is diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer matastases to regional lymph nodes, liver an bones. They also saw a large mass on the colon and he has svc syndrone, he s having a angioplast and/or stent. They recommended chemo and radiation, afterwards now they say they can not do radiation not enough time, they will just do chemo. The cancer has not spread to the brain per mri. Will the chemo buy him more time? how long are we looking at?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI ,
This is Dr,Ram

Sorry to hear about that firstly .
There are few variables to be considered .
-Particular lung cancer type and the location of the cancer as targeted therapies can be used and yes chemo will surely be of great help.
-Age which is a significant factor as young people tend to live longer and respond well than older people.
-Other complications involved .

-But according to your post ya chemotherapy will be of great help and will buy your husband time

thank you

HI
Thank for asking to HCM
I really appreciate your concern and looking to the history given here I could say that either of the therapy would be helpful in malignancy but most of the time chemotherapy alone gives the satisfactory result, mover over it all depends upon the oncologist how he handle the case, and nothing to worry about this, take care and have a nice day.
