Hi,

The schedule of birth control pills alter depending on the number of the tablets in the pack. In case of 28 pills pack, you will be advised to continue the next pack without break. In case of 21 pills pack, you have to take 21 pills with one week break and have to start next pack irrespective of withdrawal bleeding for better contraceptive effect.

According to your description I am assuming that you have started the newspeak one week after stopping the first pack. Sometimes after stopping the pills it may take around one week to ten days to get the withdrawal bleeding. So, as you are getting the cramps, you may get the periods soon. If you didn't get periods even after ten days of stopping the pills, please go for urine pregnancy test once.

If test gives negative result and you want to continue the contraceptive measure, you can start new pack but better to use additional method of protection for the first week.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Sree Gouri S. R., OBGYN
