Will Anesthetic Cream Suffice In Case Of Fissures?

Hi Arun,

I am Tripti from India. I have fissures and a skin tag. I have been provided an anesthetic cream (sitcom) and a stool softner. Also my doctor gave me a painkiller in case of acute pain. It's been a month now and my pain now occurs very rarely. But I do have discomfort especially when I walk for say half a kilometer at a stretch, there is absolutely no bleeding. I dont feel pain while passing my first motions of the day, however if I do pass motions again (which I invariabily do now, I go at least 2-3 times, primarily because I don't put pressure so I kind off already know Ill have to go again) especially my doc is asking me to wait for a bit before I go into surgery. I have a few questions however:
(a) How many times can I apply the anesthetic cream? Currently I apply it about 3-4 times a day. I tried avoiding it but then I start feeling discomfort so as a precautionary measure I now apply it.
(b) My skin tag keeps varying in size everyday. Sometimes its really huge, sometimes its quite tiny. Will this agrrevate my fissures.
(c) I have increased my fiber intake and ensure I eat a lot of oats and greens. I have also increased my water intake to about 3liters a day. Is there anything else I need to ensure
(d) I have not consumed alcohol at all in the last month out of fear of aggrevating the pain. Can I consume an occasional drink or two?
(e) I wanted to avoid the operation as I heard that a side effect can be loosing control over my bowel movements. Is that true?
(f) How long can I avoid the surgery if I have to do one?
(g) If I do the surgery how long will I take to recover the doc said I would have to be in the hospital for 3 days. How long would I have to take bed rest for (as per my doc 7 days should be good but my job involves absolutely no field work so I got to sit in front of my system for 8 -9 hours a day) so my GP told me that I'll need about 12-15 days off work to avoid sitting at continuous stretches?

Respected Tripti, hi I evaluated your query thoroughly.
(a) you can apply anesthetic cream as many times you want, but specifically
recommended after passing stools
(b) skin tag will not aggrevate fissures unless there is hard stool
(c) avoid all oily / spicy / nonveg
(d) occasional drinks not recommended at all
(e) no side effects in the hands of experts
(f) lifetime if you have not much discomfort and symptoms under control
(g) depends upon the procedure performed . normally 3-4 days for simple
procedures , more for complicated surgeries .
@ NOT mentioned anywhere about Sitz bath - the cornerstone of fissure
treatment doing or not advised ??
Hope this clears your doubts
Welcome for any further assistance
Wishing you fast recovery from the same.
