Neurologist 's  Response
Hello. I read your query and I understand your concern.
Valparin chrono is one of the most used drugs world wide for the treatment of a wide range of epilepsy so its choice makes perfect sense. Of course like most drugs it can happen to have side effects and if on the other hand it's not effective there are other alternatives which could be tried. Whether to be considered effective depends on the frequency of your seizures which you don't say as well as the dosage which could be increased if a small one (you don't mention how many tablets a day do you take).
As for whether you can recover well that can't be said, especially since I don't know the details of your history. Often epilepsy treatment is a lifelong one, but if you are seizure free for a long time (at least 2 years) at times gradual interruption of treatment could be considered but only if closely followed by a neurologist.
Hope to have been of help. Feel free to ask further questions.
