Why Would There Be Mucus In Stools And Have To Pass Stools Thrice A Day?

I am 15 yrs old . Since childhood every six months I got stomach pain followed by vommitting and fever.

At 13 yrs when I ill in the same manner . While recovering I ate roadside food. after that I started getting mucus in my stool. The doctor gave my pills for a week . It took a year to stop mucus in stool. Now I have observed that whenever I take milk after 2-3 days I get mucus. I have stopped taking milk. I take soy milk and have no problem.

But I pass stool 2-3 times a day . Am I alright or need some examination as my parents have not history of such problem.

Hello dear,

The symptoms as mentioned in your post is attributed to either infection or inflammation in the Gastrointestinal tract.

Presenting with such symptoms, I usually treat my patients with:
1. Tablet Pantoprazole + Domperidone twice daily (to be taken half an hour before food)
2. Anti spasmodics like Dicyclomine preparation twice daily (to be taken after food).
3. Antibiotics like Ofloxacin+Ornidazole preparation twice daily (to be taken after food)

If symptoms still persist, it will be better to consult a Gastroenterologist & get a proper physical examination done to find out the exact cause.
Investigations like complete blood count, stool examination, Colonoscopy & Ultrasound scan of abdomen will be helpful in detecting any pathological cause for the symptoms.

There is no need to worry, you will be fine.
Wishing a good health.
Take care.
