Why Would The Doctors Do Not Prescribe Promethazine Syrup For Cough?

I would like to know why Dr.s are so reluctant to proscribe promethazine-codeine syrup qua.
Had to pay cash. Even Kaiser gave me grief over it. Had to go to COSTCO to get prescription filled.
Used it once, cough has stopped. I can't help believe they all want us sick, all the time. I suffered for
months trying everything with no sleep lost of a lot of weight. This industry does not have our best
interest in mind.

You can blame very easily but the this not true.
Promethzine + codeine are very good drug to control cough .
These drugs are only for very very severe cases and the cough suppressant medicine.
But the side effect are so powerful that we can't prescribe in general cases as it may be in your case.
Habit formation,
addiction ,
constipation,
sedation .
All these above side effects are dangerous not only for patient but for society so not prescribed in ordinary cases.
In your case cough may be due to asthmatic allergic bronchitis ,so consult a physician and take treatment .
