Welcome to HealthcareMagic Forum,
This can be an infected lymph node which appeared over the carotids and got enlarged and probably infection has subsided now and hence pain but the enlargement remains. You can just wait for few days and notice whether the swelling increases in the size or not, if so then please do contact your ENT specialist.

Through a CT Scan in 2012 it was revealed I have a nodule on my right common carotid artery. Since 2012 the nodule has shown no change in size. The most recent viewing of the nodule was in Feb 2017 via CT scan. Recently, I have been experiencing discomfort in the area where the nodule is located. In addition, I have an ache in my right jaw that at times radiates across my lower jaw from right to left (numbness/pin and needles). 11 years ago I had papillary thyroid cancer. I had a full thyroidectomy and radio active iodine treatment. My concern is the nodule is pressing against my carotid artery? Is this a realistic thought? I have been sick so perhaps it s inflammation? Just wondering why I am feeling it now and have not before. Why the jaw pain? I just need some advice on how to proceed with my doctor. Thank you

My husband has a non tender firm lump on the left side of my neck. I only see it when He turns his head to the right. When neck is straight it can t be felt. Could it be a clogged carotid artery or lymphoma? It seems a bit bigger- size of a quarter. He s had it that I ve noticed about 6 months. What could it be?
Ent put a camera down my throat and daid i have a swollen lymph node on my carotid artery left dide of my neck & this caroid artery is a lot bigger then the one on the right side of my neck. Over the last couple of weeks i have a constant ache in my left ear & shoulder. What do u think is going on
I have a herniated c7 that gave me a fit three years ago. Play tennis regularly and started to run again. Back doesn t hurt anymore, never had surgery. Do weights 2 to 3 times a week. Only pain that never went away was thumb numbness that gets worse with weather. None of that bothers me. What concerns me is the erratic twitch of the muscle in my neck near my carotid artery. This started happening about three weeks ago and is very intermittment . My BP seems fine, and I don t think it is my heart speeding up, pulse remains normal. Worried it could be a verterbral dissection. I am 51 years old and have been on the internet too long. ha! I am also going through menopause so didn t know if it could be part of that.
I had an ekg with left atrial abnormality , SR and t wave abnormalities. recentlu i have had cold hands and feet, head aches, intolerance with activity, dyspnea, lightheadedness, palpitaions, and intermittent decreased skin signs. at night i notice i get increased HR occasionally, occasionally my neck hurts onear my carotid and jugular area can they be related to this?
Hi, I am a 51 year old man, I had a dissected carotid artery on 12/8/2010, a stent was placed in my carotid. Follow up shows that the blood flow is very good. During the episode at the time I had confusion, saw lights in left eye (dissection was on left side) and some headaches, not severe. I have had 2 follow up MRI s and MRA s which show improvement. I was put on keppra as a precaution and have recently been weaned off of it. My question is approximately 4 weeks ago I began having a sort of numbing sensation (warm or cool) on the right side of my face about an inch wide from about my temple across my cheek bone to about my nose, could this be related, and if so how? This sensation is not constant but frequent. I am otherwise in good health, take aspirin and 40mg simivastin a day, 6 1 and 175 lbs.
