Why The Laparoscopic Surgery Affect My Periods?

Hey! I am writing because I had laparoscopic surgery the 25th of February to remove endometriosis and cyst. I started my period two days later, like I was supposed too. I was supposed to start my period the 28th of March, so as of today I am 5 days late. I have taken pregnancy test and it has all came back negative. So what I m wondering could the surgery throw my cycle off. I should add that I always have a regular period and I am never late.

Hi,

Need to know more details about the surgery and ovarian chocolate cysts. If ovarian cysts were there and surgery was done, then there can be a delay. At times endometrial sample may be taken for endometrial assessment. Please discuss with your gynecologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr B. Radhakrishnan. Nair, OBGYN
