There are couple of resion why nurses don't allow to drink more water. First is they may not be able to swallow and aspirate to lungs and develop another complication, as well most of the stroke patient after stroke their blood pressure use to remain high for some time and excess water can increase the blood pressure, many times stroke patient also have water retention which will increase pressure on kidney as well as heart that could be the another resion, as well patients are already given drips through intra venous line so they do not want to give more on top of this. Take care.
