Why My Poison Ivy Spots Are Not Going Even After Steroid Shots?

I got poison ivy about 7 days ago, went to the dr. 2 day later and was given a steroid shot it is now day 7 still have the poison ivy found a couple more spots, washed everything about 100 times. Is it normal for the shot not to work. I plan to go back to the dr. in the morning. Thanks.

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hi.
As per your case history of poison ivy spots my questions are - what type of spots are they at present? Are they red and itching?

It the lesions are black then they are just post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation marks.

If they are red and itching then you need to have -
1. A short course of oral steroids like betamethasone or prednisone to avoid post-inflammatory marks.
2. Apply a mid antibiotic cream like fusiderm cream twice daily on lesions.

Thanks.
