Why Left Leg Fall Asleep With Tingling Sensation While Standing? Taking Lisinopril For High Blood Pressure

Ironically when I stand up I feel like my left leg goes to "sleep" (you know, like little needles tingling in it, similar to when you fall asleep on your arm for hours and you wake up and have to shake it out.) This is just opposite of what I would expect. This happens even when my legs are not crossed prior to standing. I am 50 years old, on High Blood pressure med (Lisinopril 10mg 2 x a day). This just started over the last 2 days. I walk around a few minutes and the tingling goes away but there is a continuous discomfort on the back of the leg. Should I be worried? Seek immediate emergency care? Please advise.

Hello
The tingling sensation and weakness in the leg may be due to .
1 orthostatic effects of lisinopril or due to hypotension developed by lisinopril . Diagnosis can be confirmed by measurement of blood pressure at the time of incident.
2 The next possibility may be due to hypertension and blockage of arteries of that foot . As due to high level of cholesterol there develops blockage in blood supply . Diagnosis can be confirmed by angiography or doppler test these parts.
3 Peripheral neuropathy is the another most important cause . Diagnosis can be confirmed by MRI .
At the age of 50 years , tingling sensation and high blood pressure is concerning.
You need to investigated with E K G and echo to isolate the case. I would recommend you visit a CARDIOLOGIST at the earliest & sort this problem.
Good luck.
