Why Is Ultrasound Of The Liver Done In Case Of Diarrhea?
had ultra sound of the gallbladder today - symptoms are nausea diarrhea after eating can be salads, fatty foods, ice cream, corn - been having these symptoms for 7 months - blood work showed possible gallbladder disease - I have been told I have fatty liver in the past - I am scheduled for gastric by pass in approx 3 weeks My problem is the tech kept asking questions about my liver - were my liver enzymes elevated - they were approx 6 mos ago - while ultra sound of gall bladder being done she said we are going to go ahead and get your liver and spleen - what could be going on?
Hi. Thanks for your query. Good that you are going for gastric bypass, means you are either obese or diabetic. This is a major surgery hence they have to be sure that the liver is normal because the liver metabolizes everything that passes through it including the medicines you will be given pre-op, intra-op and post-op. Secondly, as your liver enzymes were elevated a few months back, there will be review of everything including the liver function tests and ultrasound of the whole abdomen. So do not worry, this is a part of the usual protocol.
