Why Is The Optic Nerve In Eye Swollen?

My optic nerve in my left eye is swollen, head of ophthamology confirmed it. He is suspecting I have idiopathic inter cranial hypertension! I had a surgery in February of 2013 taking out my wisdom teeth. I was supposed to get the roots removed also but the doc who took them out left them in! I warned him I have a lot of sinusitis & trouble with my sinuses--he said it was fine! I am now wondering if the roots from my wisdom tooth on the upper left side could be causing my optic nerve swelling--causing the IIH? & if so if I te the roots out now could it help?
