Why is my son sick all the time?

Why is my 14 year old son sick all the time? In the last 4 months he s had scarlet fever twice, stomach flu , sinus infection, allergies, and now something else that includes nausea , vomiting, and diarrhea . He s been sick with everything nonstop since the stomach flu and only had a good 2 weeks of normalcy in between that and scarlet fever. He s normally very active and eats a ton. He hasn t had much of an appetite at all. he s lost 15 pounds since the beginning of the year too. I m worried. My son is 14 years old he weighs 115 pounds he s about 5 9. He had his adnoids removed when he was 5. He suffers from seasonal allergies. He is currently on amoxicillon and flonase and has been for 8 days now.

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hi,

Welcome to HealthcareMagic Forum
This could be endocrine related problems leading to low levels of immunity and increased stature. I would recommend you to consult a good endocrinologist and run through a battery of investigation. For nasal allergy and sinusitis as such continue the nasal spray and the antibiotics and encourage him to drink plenty of warm water.

My son has been sick for 4 weeks with incredible nausea, gripey stomach, feeling of fullness and loss of apetite. He has lost 11kg and has been to two doctors and a specialist had numerous tests done (blood, faeces, ultasound , endoscopy) which have revealed nothing. He had suspected salmonella poisoning at beginning of year which was treated with a very strong antibiotic. He is currently on another strong antibiotic (prescribed by his specialist) just in case it is another bug or bacteria that is lingering in his system plus a 3 day intense worm tablet dosing. We thought he was improving but today he feels like he has regressed. The next step is a CT scan ordered by the specialist if the antibiotics and worm tablets don t work within the 7 day period. I am very concerned that nothing is working. He has missed weeks of school and it seems this mystery illness is ruining his life.

Hi, I ve been lethargic, and tired all the time, and I ve been unable to put on weight. I m 164cm, 47kg, female, 18. I ve started having something like sleep paralysis , which has been really scary and strange. I end up really disoriented and weak when I walk some distance. I have no apetite, and I get off balance. I ve had fevers on and off, and vomitting in my mouth and a funny taste, but I m not sick. And I have bruises on my legs, but I haven t been doing anything to get them. I notice my heart rate is irregular, and I ve been woken up by abdominal pain a lot. All this is out of character, I want to be a healthy and good student, but haven t been able to be. What might be causing this? Will I need to see a doctor in person?

Hello doctor, I have a history of nasal allergy and recently had a severe left ear ache 3 days ago. The doc diagnosed it to be a rupture in my eardrum. There was some sort of brownish discharge which he cleaned out vacuum suction and then presribed me the below; 1) Ceftum tablets 0-0-1 2) Diclomol tablets 1-0-1 3) Fexy tablets 0-0-1 4) Flutiflo nasal spray 1-0-1 He then mentioned that there was strictly no use of any kind of ear drops needed or to be used. Almost an hour after the suction, there was a sort of light yellowish discharge mixed with a little blood from my ear which is still on. When consulted today, the doctor has advised me to use Zanocin ear drops. Could you pls advise whether my treatment is on the right track?

Hi, my son 5 years old has been complaining of blocked ears for 3 weeks now. Brought him to his paeditrician and was told that this is caused by the fluid/mucus stuck in his ears. My son has nasal allergy as well. He started to complain headache these few days. Went to the dr. again yesterday, this time around i was told that there were some build up of ear wax in his ears and the headache most likely is caused by the blocked ears. He used to complain of blocked ears during or when he is in the bed, lying down position. kindly let me know what to do in order to help with his blocked ear and headache? Thanks dr.
