Why Is My Son Not Able To Take A Deep Breath?

My son is complaining that he cannot take a deep breath. I have noticed to that he doesn't yawn. Even when others are yawning he doesn't....Daycare said after running he stops and tries to take deep breaths. He is sleeping a little more than normal as well

I can understand your concern.
In my opinion, you should consult pulmonologist and get done clinical examination of respiratory system, chest x ray and PFT (Pulmonary Function Test) to rule out causes for breathing difficulty.
If all of the above are normal then no need to worry much. He might be having stress and anxiety related symptoms.
So ask him to avoid stress and tension, be relax and calm.
