Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
At the end of Sept. I bruised my left heel bone, 3 weeks ago (beginning of November) I was finally able to return to work.. since being back at work (I am a cook and spend 8-9 hours a day standing/running back and forth) almost daily my foot swells up, has shown bruising on occasion, and most recently I have a soft.. somewhat large and painful bulge on the mid-outside of my left foot ~ on the side. When I walk and my heel touches the ground it feels like I'm stepping on a knife, now with the bulge I can't even touch my foot without pain. Just wondering what the cause of this might be... and what I can do to fix it - should I return to my foot doctor?

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement, Dr. Saurabh Gupta's Response
Hello, Thanks for your query. It might be soft tissue injury or fracture. Large and painful bulge on the mid-outside of your left footcould be organized haematoma. Without X-ray, it is difficult to differentiate a fracture from others. I suggest you to consult an orthopaedician nearby for a detailed examination. You may get the X-ray of the area affected under his/her guidance.
I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query. Take care
