Why Is My Face Red And Blotchy After Drinking Alcohol?

Hi,

Just had two sips of alcohol with my meal and my face has suddenly gone red and blotchy. It's started spreading down my neck and it feels like my face is sunburnt. Also, started to feel dizzy, I've never had this problem with alcohol before.

Hi,

It appears you took something that reacted with alcohol and caused the flushing. Usually this happens if one is on antibiotics like metronidazole, antifungals, anti-diabetic drugs, or some analgesics. It is called a disulfiram like reaction and it is similar to what happens when a person who is on disulfiram takes alcohol. If you are on any such medicine, avoid taking alcohol till then.
