Why Is It Necessary To Use Tim Eye Drops At A Gap Of Eight Hours?

My doctor has put me on Tim drops 2 x/ day. He said apply one drop each eye in morning and again 8 hours later. He was clear not to wait much more then 8 hours. I try to do this application within not more then 9 hours. Why is it so important that it be exactly 8 hours for second applications? I don’t put them in again until the next morning which is usually another15 hours later. That seems like a long time before I begin the application again. Please advise.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The half life is 8 hours I mean one drop out acha only for 8 hours not after that so it's very much important that the second drop comes after it because we need the pressure to not rise even for five minutes as a rise in pressure does damage the optic nerve which is irreplaceable . so your doctor is a hundred percent correct.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
