Why Is Co-codamol Not Able To Treat Headache?

I have a severe headache which started at the base of my neck. I also have pins and needles in my arms. 2 months ago my back seized up due to muscle spasms centred around my sciatic nerve. My speech etc is fine. The headache and tingling sensations have been lasting for around 3 hrs so far. I have taken co-codamol but this has had no effect. What could this be due to and is it normal? Thank you for your help.

Hello,

First of all, co-codamol is a pain killer, so it cannot treat the cause of the disease.

Second, you should do an MRI Lateral view on your neck to assess the cause of pins and needles in your arms.

Third, you should avoid lifting heavy objects as much as you can and you should wear collar support for your neck.

You should measure your blood pressure and fasting blood sugar to ensure that you do not have a systemic illness.

If you are overweight, you had better control your weight through stopping fat-rich meal. To decrease the salt intake is helpful in your case.

You should take the correct position while you are sleeping or sitting. You can take Carbamazepine half a tablet for three days before sleeping then one tablet before sleeping, vitamin B complex once per day, Benfotiamine 40 mg twice per day after meals and aspirin 160 mg twice per day after meals.

If the medical treatment and the collar did not help you with the tingling sensation, you would ask a neurosurgeon for help.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
