Why Is EKG Done On An Infant ?

Yes, my great niece was just born and she has health problems. My brother says they are doing an EKG tonight and to pray. I didn t want to ask him what they suspect or are ruling out because he was so emotional but I would like to have a general idea what the baby is facing. Any help?

Pediatrician, Surgery 's  Response
Hi I can understand your concern. EKG / ECG is called electrocardiogram, it is a test (strip of paper taken after attaching chest leads) done to know the cardiac rhythm, abnormality in rhythm. In adults it is done for work up of chest pain to look for Myocardial Ischemia (Heart Attack).

I hope i have answered your query.

Wish your niece good health
