Why Is Claritin-10 Prescribed?

Hi: I would like to find out if Claritan-10 (458) is used recreational use (I found them on the floor after a party). If so, why would a person want to take them (enhanced effedta, hallucinations, etc.)? My inclination is, it would be used after someone is high to help them go to sleep since taking multiple pills should make a person drowsy. Thank you for any information you can provide. General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Claritin (Loratadine)-10 (imprint of 458) is a non-sedating antihistamine is commonly prescribed to treat sneezing, runny nose, watery eyes, hives, skin rash, itching, and other cold or allergy symptoms associated with chronic skin inflammation.

Its most common side effects include headache, somnolence, dry mouth, nervousness, and fatigue at the therapeutic dose.

However, it can cause sedation or drowsiness at higher doses that help to fall asleep. It is not known to cause euphoria or hallucinations.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali
