Hello, thanks for posting on HCM.
Levolin contains levosalbutamol which is commonly used in asthma patients as you rightly said. Its mechanism of action is, it causes bronchodilatation which is required in patients with chest congestion as your daughter has.
It will cause the bronchioles (airway pipes) to dilate causing easy outflow of the phlegm and cough which will cause better breathing and relief from chest congestion. It will be given only till the infection subsides then it will be taken off as opposite to asthmatic patient who will continue to take them.
Budesonide will also have similar effect and addition to that it will also decrease the inflammation of the mucus lining of the airway causing more relief from congestion.
Both of these medications will be discontinued once the infection settles or she feels better clinically.
I hope I have helped you answer your query.
Thank you
