Why Is Betnesol Injection Given During Pregnancy?

My wife had sonography yesterday and her lmp is 25.02.2017, so according to lmp the gestational age should be 28 weeks but doctor said calculated ga is 26 weeks and 1 day,so there is a growth lag more than 10 days and she asked us to start aspirin and gave betnesol injection yesterday,what should be the objective behind giving this steroid at 26th week.? Please make us understand this thing.

Thanks for asking.
Your baby is premature by 2 weeks.. Inj. Betnasol is given to babies at risk of premature bbirth . This Reduces respiratory complicarions after birth. The injection may be repeated after a week (as effect of previous dose weans off in one week).. if doctor thinks it to be necessary.
