Why Having Low Grade Fever After Taking Treatment For Malaria And Typhoid?

After having a low grade fever for about 2 weeks, i got a blood and widal test done and found out i had typhoid. I had no other symptons other than continuous light fever which rises and falls thoroughout the day.I completed typhoid medication of about 10 days and then My doctor put me on 5 day malaria medication as the fever still continued.I am done with all medication, but the fever still persists and there is light headache, which i m guessing is due to weakness. I still have no muscle pain or fatigue or diarhea etc. no other sympton, only fever of abt 98- 99 degrees Please suggest.

Hello
As you mentioned that you took treatment for typhoid fever for 10 days with 5 days for malaria .
Still low grade fever is there , so this fever in your case may be due to following possibilities .
1 Tuberculosis , diagnosis can be confirmed by blood examination for E S R ( if very > 70 mm in 1st hour ) and X RAY chest .
2 The next possibility may be due to jaundice , as I have noted in many cases that low grade fever may be due to jaundice . Diagnosis can be confirmed by ultrasound of liver with blood examination for berum bilirubin , sgot, sgpt.
3 Anemia as I have noted that in many cases after prolong fever there develop anemia .
So get in blood examination for hemoglobin level .
Sometimes chronic infection may be the cause of fever so get in blood for cbc and leucocytes count.
In my opinion consult a physician and get his opinion as physical examination is also important .
Good luck.
