Why Does The Fetus Have An Extra Muscle Attached To It?

I am a 30 year old women who is 145 lbs 5 ft 7 inches, who is in the second trimester of pregnancy. This is my third pregnancy. I am considerable healthy. I went Tuesday for an ultrasound and was told by the doctor that the fetus has an extra muscle attached/or in the heart. She didn't seemed concerned about it and said that everything else is fine.. I didn't feel comfortable with her assessment and my husband asked would it cause the baby to have a heart murmer or what. Will this cause undo stress to the heart? or is this something that is normal? What is going on? What can I expect?

OBGYN, Maternal and Fetal Medicine 's  Response
Hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. Extra muscle attached to the fetal heart can be echogenic intracardiac foci or any other anomaly in the fetal heart. It can be present in chromosomal anomalies, genetic syndromes or isolated anomaly.
I would suggest you to consult a fetal medicine specialist so that a detailed anomaly ultrasound can be done and further management should be done accordingly.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
Wishing you good health.
