Why Does My Child Refuse To Attend School And Throw Tantrums At Home?

Hi, I am Sathya Prakash, working in Chennai and visiting my family in Bangalore every fortnight. My wife is working in Bangalore and my daughter is 5.5 yrs old. She studied her nursery in a school very near to my home in Vidyaranyapura. Recently she was admitted to a Central school. But, right from day 1 she is hesitating to go to new school (she was very willing to go to school in old school) and everyday, she cries a lot and she will never attend her class and sit in Head mistress room throughout. From then onwards, her behaviour changed and she cries a lot in home for every petty reasons and has become arrogant. For every small reasons she cries and starts beating all and shouts. Kindly advise the remedy.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi, thanks for asking.
I can understand your concerns.
In my opinion her behaviour of crying has been rewarded by allowing her not to go in class. So the behaviour has increased and she cries for anything she wants. Try to take her to the class with her mother and gradually the time spent by her mother in the class has to be reduced.
I hope I have helped you
Thank you
