Why Does Hospital Visits Cause BP To Drop?

Hi, my mother-in-law is in the hospital for a broken arm. She was fighting with the attendants while they were trying to cast her, so they sedated her. When she should have been waking up, her blood pressure dropped to 70/30. The last time she was in the hospital the same thing happened with her blood pressure when they sedated her. Why does this keep happening? Is there something else going on that they aren't telling us?
