I have lower back pain on both sides and I went to the hospital I did a urine test which came fine and the blood test my kidneys enzymes BUN was 19 and creatine was 1.79. do you think there is something wrong with the function of my kidneys? My mouth is very dry and I ve been going too often in the restroom, during the night my fever is a little over 99 and my blood pressure goes 150 to 100. Could you infer anything that could be wrong?

Hello,

You are suffering from lower back pain on both the sides. elevated BP and mild fever. You have slightly raised creatinine level. Raised creatinine levels are commonly indicative of dehydration, large protein intake from food source or supplements, etc. Health conditions that damage the kidneys like diabetes, heart disease, High BP may also cause creatinine levels to get elevated.

It can also be due to kidney stones that block the urinary tract, kidney infection eg pyelonephritis, inflammation of the kidney like glomerulonephritis, kidney failure, etc. Back pain, pain in the sides, fever-chills, frequent urination are indicative of kidney infection. It may be associated with high blood pressure, elevated creatinine levels.

You are suggested to get examined by a urologist, get blood works and required imaging tests done to detect kidney stones, kidney inflammation and infection. etc. Get urinalysis (R/E and C/S) done. You will be accordingly treated. In the meantime, take adequate amount of water and fluids. You get relief from pain, you can take Naproxen or Combiflam, one SOS for relief. Do not neglect yourself, get treated at the earliest.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
