Why Do I Have Headaches With Stabbing Pains In The Temple ?

I have been having headaches with stabbing pains in my temple. My Doctor was on vacation so I seen another Doctor in the same practice. He said my blood pressure was 148/92 and why havent I been on BP meds awhile ago? I should have been on them for months he said as he looked back at my records. He put me on Bystolic 5mg for the last 1 1/2 weeks. My BP was then 148/86 4 days ago and yesterdaY 160/78. When I called my regular doc whom is back from vacation yesterday and the receptionist said she would have the nurse call me back and never did yet!!! Should I be concerned with 160/78????

Hello,

First of all, you should take anti-hypertension every day without stopping it.

Second, the drug is not sufficient to reduce blood pressure, so you need to decrease salt and fat intake in your diet.

If you are a woman taking oral contraceptive pills or a hormonal replacement therapy you should ask a gynacologist for help.

Third, you should do some investigations such as: Lipid profile in the blood, an ECG and an ECHO on your heart.

The result of these investigations can help you to control your blood pressure and other symptoms.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Dr/Mustafa, Neurologist
