Why Do I Feel Weak After Smoking Cigarettes?

Hi I m Anna. I ve been smoking cigarettes four years now. Recently I ve turned into a heavy smoker. For the past two months, every time I smoke a cigarette I feel extremely weak and get a headache. I also have weakness in my chest almost like it s hard to breathe. I do have weakness all the time too no matter how much sleep I get (weakness gets worse with cigarettes). I also always have moderate back and neck pain. I have no blood pressure problems and other than these symptoms I am healthy. Thanks very much.

Hi Anna,

It appears that your body is telling you to quit smoking. Nicotine can cause headache, dizziness and chest discomfort. You will notice that reducing the number of puffs you take from each cigarette and increasing the time gap between two successive cigarettes helps by reducing the amount of nicotine delivered to the body. But the best thing would be to give up smoking completely.

Best wishes.
