Why Are My Eyes Dry After Recovering From Facial Paralysis?

im 21 yrs old. 5-6 yrs back i suffered from bells palsy i.e. Facial paralysis. However, i recovered completely from it as according to the doctors by taking suitable medicines. But since than m im having problem of dry eyes, esp on to my left eye(bells palsy also occured on to the left side). I feel my left eye or the nerve related to it or whatever forces to blink it. Its like i have to close it firmly. Also when i blink my both eyes normally i dont actually feel the same sensation of blinking on to my left eye as it does on the right. What do u think is the problem?

Hello,

Though te recovery of facilasy might have been good, there is a possibility of residual lagophthalmos( inadequate lid closure from facial palsy, lid closure muscle is supplied by the facila nerve). It also results in poor tear film stability. This results in dry eyes. Use lubricating eye drops regularly such as Refresh tears eye drops, 1 drop 4-6 times a day.
