Why Am I Having Pain In Trachea Area, Ear Aches And Sinus Pressure?

Hi, I have had pain in the trachea area. It is a sharp pain and is sensitive to the touch. I have also had this pain for over a year with a combination of other symptoms such as ear aches, sinus pressure. no doctor seems to find anything wrong. I am a smoker so the doctor inserted a camera and she said the area looked red but didn't give me any medicine. the pain is still there and I am worried that it might be something serious. what do you recommend?

Hello dear,

There is a connecting tract (known as Eustachian tube) between the nasopharynx & middle ear through which infection can spread to ear.
Also obstruction to this Eustachian tube, secondary to an upper respiratory tract infection, sinusitis, cold & congestion, can lead to ear pain by causing un-equalisation of pressure between the nasopharynx & middle ear.

Management includes:
1. Antihistamine preparations like Allegra.
2. Decongestant nasal drops.
3. Antibiotics based on culture & sensitivity reports.
4. Warm salt water gargle.
5. Steam inhalation.
6. Maintenance of adequate hydration & nutrition status of the body.
7. Protection from cold, dust & other allergens.

Wish you good health & a speedy recovery.
Take care.
