Why Am I Getting Swollen Lymph Nodes Under The Breast After A Lumpectomy And Radiation?

I was diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer last year. one year ago. two months ago diagnosed with radiation recall.I was given antibiotics which only gave me C deficille. Now I have swollen lymph nodes under same breast I had the cancer. I had lumpectomy with radiation treatments in that breast. What questions should I ask the oncologist and what should I expect?

Hi,

Several mechanisms can cause the lymph nodes to enlarge (swell). In rare cases, breast cancer or lymphoma may cause swollen lymph nodes in the armpit.

Rarely, a person may have a node or group of nodes that grows rapidly and becomes hard and can not be easily moved around under the skin. These may indicate a tumor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Monish De, Oncologist
