Hey all I m a 16 year old male who has been weight training frequently for 3 months. Ever since I first started weight training I have always had the odd click and pop in my shoulder joint (the rotator cuff I think) that I hear while bench pressing or doing certain shoulder exercises. At first the clicks and pops were quite infrequent, but now they have made my shoulder feel very tender and sensitive even when I haven t been exercising. My shoulder now gives me discomfort (not pain) when I move my arm away from my body or past the back of my head and the pops occur when I do these. I have an appointment with my G.P in a few days, but was hoping to put my mind at rest until then. The reason I am this concerned with the whole situation is because I am joining the British Army in September, and I m hoping this will not affect my entrance into there. Many thanks! -Lewis

The popping sound you are feeling in your shoulder is most likely to be slight strain in your rotator cuff. There is no injury whatsoever. Occasional popping sound is absolutely normal. You need not worry about your selection in British army.

I had a very strange experience that happened to me only one time, however, it bothers me and I fear it may happen again. I am/was having burning sensations in my left shoulder blade - it is still happening, but it is so very very painful and uncomfortable. The one incident that frightened me to death was when I reinjured the shoulder by falling on it catching myself so I would not land on my son. After the fall, I had a small cold drink of pop or water and I could feel the cold feeling going down my arm! The shoulder/arm continue to weaken and I have complete locking of my fingers on both hands from time to time. But, why would I feel a coldness from a drink going down my arm?

I m using a Lidoderm patch for (light) shoulder pain. I had a rotator cuff tear surgery in Oct. 2013. At times I get pain in the shoulder (while exercising and/or playing tennis). Is Lidoderm the same as ibuprofen except it is in a patch form? Thanks for replying.
I suffer from spinal stenosis lorodisis , spondylitis , chronic pain headaches, nerve damage in left foot, dysphasia due to cervical fusion, nerve damage at the c6-7level, lumbar fusion 2 lumbar surgeries. Degenerative disc disease, and now dealing with thickened bursa, tiny tear rotator cuff, labrum tear of right arm. Constant pain all over everyday. On cymbalta and anti-inflammatories. I have a pins & needles feeling deep into my left armpit that radiates down the inside of my arm to my elbow, several times during the day. Occasionally while this is happening, i will also have burning pain in the same shoulder - rotator cuff area radiating down the outside of the arm to the elbow. When this happens suddenly and is intense it scares me into thinking I may be having a heart attack, but I don't have any other symptoms, no shortness of breath, no heavyness, no sweats, otherwise I am a healthy 51 year old female.
