White Patch On Cheek. Using Chlorhexidine Rinse. Getting Burning Sensation With Acidic Food. Cause?

Hi I just turned 25 yrs. old. Three weeks ago my left cheek started getting raw and eventually ended up with a white patch. When I brushedy teeth and hit it with my bristles it tore it off and it bled. My dentist prescribed me with a chlorhexidine rinse. After two weeks it was gone. Thank god! Now my right cheek is raw and burns when I eat or drink acidic foods. Especially when I brush my teeth with Colgate sensitive toothpaste. What could this be caused from? Thank you for listening to my problems. :) Sincerely, Ashley

Hello and welcome to HCM,
White patch on the cheek may have multiple reasons, you may have cheek bite caused by sharp cuspal edges of molar teeth that often leads to white patches on cheek mucosa. This can be minimized by selective grinding of the sharp edges professionally by your dentist.
Deficiency of cretain vitamins also leads to tissue ulceration.
White patches are also initial sign of tissue necrosis eventually growing into a cancer, habits like tobacco chewing, smoking, alcohol, hot and spicy food habits are responsible for such patches.
i suggest you to consult a dentist and get it confirmed, meanwhile you rinse your mouth with lukewarm saline or chlorhexidine mouth wash regularly, apply topical oral ointment like Mucopain over the affected area, start with antioixidant course of Lycopene 2000mg along with multivitamins twice daily for 10 days. i hope this helps you to recover soon. take care.

Hi,
Thank you for the query.
White patch on the cheek may be because of the cheek bite which may get ulcerated because of the repeated trauma to the mucosa. This is usually caused because of the sharp cusps or chewing habits . reduction of the irregular or sharp areas of the teeth can be done by selective grinding followed by mutlivitamin supplements and mucopain ointment application.
If its because of the chewing habits like tobacco, gutka etc then it can lead to candid infections or precancerous lesions.Along with it any occlusal discrepancies should be ruled out which may lead to cheek bite .
Hope this helps you.

Hi,

Thank you for asking query in this forum,

White patch can occur due to various reasons...like cheek biting which will cause keratinization of the oral mucosa...

But I think you may got chemical burn on your right cheek...that may occur due to taking excessive hot food, keeping aspirin tablets inside cheek..etc...

Proper clinical evaluation is required for your case...

Meanwhile you can avoid any hot, spicy foods...

Apply dologel 3-4 times/day...

Don't apply any steroid ointment without knowing the cause....

Get well soon...

Take care....
