I think you should read up on heart attacks and strokes. Both have the potential to do major damage, or, of course, cause death.
With either one there is also the potential to live and yet be majorly disabled for the rest of your life.

The last two days I have been experiencing buzzing in my right ear. This is also the side I have some blockage going on in carotid. Five years ago I had a mild stroke because the left carotid artery was almost completely blocked. I had surgery, and I have no residual effects of the stroke. I have kept an eye on the carotids with ultrasound every year. This ringing in the right ear is not constant, but comes & goes. It is a loud mechanical buzzing noise. Am I right in thinking it is probably due to the carotid blockage, or would you think it could be something more significant that needs further testing? Thank you.

About two years ago i was startled in my sleep by my room mate and it made my heart rate rather irregular. Since then anytime i am startled in my sleep it takes forever for my heart to return to a normal rate. I have had a few stroke scares due to tingling in my left arm and entire left side of my body after having tests ran catscan and blood work they found no sign of stroke. The other night i was again startled in my sleep and it took a while for my heart beat to return to normal as usual. But shortly after i started feeling this awkard pressure in my head and it wont go away im just wondering if anyone has an idea of what it could be
