When Should Treatment Be Started In Case Of Stage-4 Lung Cancer?

My 79 year old mom was dx with stage 4 nsclc adencarcinoma with mets to lymphs and left lung..Rt lung tumor 1.7cm and left 5mm. She does also have some mets to hilar and carina. The doctor is not going to treat at this time, she also has extensive cardiovascular disease..what effect would chemo have and when should treatment really begin

Hi

Your mom is suffering from stage 4 lung cancer.
At this age and since she has cardiovascular disease i would suggest she does EGFR and ALK mutation in her biopsy sample so that if found positive then oral chemotherapy like erlotinib and crizotinib will work for her with lesser side effects to keep her disease under control and improve her overall survival and quality of life.
