When Should A Foley Catheter Be Removed After A TURP Surgery?
hi, I just had TURP surgery on Thursday and I have a foley. My doctor told me to remove it after 48 hours but the nurse said to leave it in until it runs clearer, like an apple juice color. It is still running a dark red color. After the 48 hours, do I still leave it in? I will not be seeing my doctor for another 48 hours.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
* As per my surgical experience, the duration of Foley`s catheter varies in different individuals as per the surgical recovery.
* In our clinic, I recommend to keep the catheter till the urine becomes almost clear of blood tinge.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
