When Novelon Should Be Taken During Periods?

i just had insertion of mirena ..after the treatment i had continous bleeding n spotting .doctor suggested to take novelon on the second day of my next period.now i got my periods but its just spotting..is it appropriate to start novelon now? am 40 yrs old..weight 67 kg
