When Is It Ok To Come Off Omeprazole?
Yes, I had a heart attach 19 years ago, about five years ago I saw another heart dr because my was out of town, this dr. put me on omeprazole and have been taking it since. I really do not think I needed it at the time but have taken it. I have gained weight and cant lose weight, plus my primary care dr saw the old heart attach and really did not know what the problem was. I really think I need to be off this medication byself.

Hello.If you are taking medication that can cause digestive bleeding (aspirin, blood thinners, anti-inflammatory) Omeprazole use is necessary.
If you are not taking any of the mentioned drugs , the continued use of Omeprazole is not indicated;besides continue use of omeprazole (and similar antiacids)has side effects.Please,consult with your doctor.
