When Can I Expect The Swelling To Go Down After Having Septoplasty?

Hi, I had a septoplasty this Thursday. The surgeon put tampons inside my nose, but these were removed because I felt like I couldn't breathe. My nose is very swollen, and it's leaking yellow discharge on the right side. No air coming in or out of the nose, completely blocked. I have silicone splints sutured inside each nostril, these are to be removed on Friday (1 week 1 day after surgery). I rinse/flush my nose with NeliMed Sinus Rinse 8 times a day. When can I expect the swelling to go down? It is currently hard for me to drink and eat, due to a sort of "vacuum" when swallowing.

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hi, the problem should be over as and when the splints are removed as splints lead to collection of scabs in the nostrils and this leads to blockade of the nose. Rinsing does help and should be done frequently. Please take oral decongestants and oral decongestant drops along with. The wound swelling resolves in a week or so but the wound healing completes by about six weeks. Reagrds
