When I lie down in bed, after a few minutes

When I lie down in bed, after a few minutes I start feeling pain from my hips to my knees. I am able to walk 2 1/2 miles, do yard work, housework etc. during the day okay but when I lie flat I hurt. Last night I slept with my legs elevated with a wedge and no pain. What's wrong and what can I do about it?

As soon I go to bed I lay down on my left side. After about 10 minutes I change position by trying to lay on my right side but suddenly I feel like the bed is tilting and I have a feeling that I will fall out of bed; it is a scary experience and at that point I am confused and sweating profusely.

About 2 minutes after I lay down in bed I get extremely warm no matter the temperature or time of year. I throw off the blanket (or sheet), and after a minute or two I m cold and need to cover up. Then I can fall asleep. Why is this happening. I have already gone through my change of life.

I was carrying a baby in a car seat down stairs several times after which I noticed a pain in hip area on right hand side. pain comes on at end of day not every day by any means and when comes on gets very intense for which I find only way to ease it is to lie down in bed. It generally takes one to two hours to ease and then it is fine until next bout . sometimes will go a number of days and sometimes couple weeks or more. find different sitting positions will bring it on or twisting around such as when sewing and ironing sitting on a stool. And being on feet all day. This started after the above mentioned over 12 months ago now. Have been to an osteopath but this has not cured it.
